Le Souk : salon des métiers d’art et de la culture de Saint-Michel

Mission

Saint-Michel’s SOUK is a family and multicultural event that wants to promote artists and craftsmen from cultural diversity residing in the Villeray / Saint-Michel / Parc-Extension area. This event wishes to create an eye opening opportunity to present the art form of different cultures to the local citizens.

Description

Under the formula of a Salon des Métiers d'Art du Souk, exhibitors are subject to present their works in kiosks, thus inviting the public and giving them the opportunity to come forward to purchase their art of choice. A stage is also made available to performers: musicians, dancers, singers and poets can perform shows of 10 to 20 minutes each during this event. The following are some of the countries showcasing their work at the Souk: Algeria, Mexico, Peru, France, Canada, etc..

It is important to note that VSMS wishes to use this event to not only help mesh between artists and artisans but between artists and citizens. This in return creates a bonding relationship between artists and our cultural institutions. Therefore several neighborhood organizations and the boroughs have come together to organize the first two editions of the Souk. (see tab: partners)
